The «coureur des bois» package at la Seigneurie du Triton

Enjoy a stay completely immersed in the heart of the Quebec forest on the territory of the biodiversity reserve of the Seigneurie du Triton. An extraordinary adventure combining seaplane transport, emblem of bush pilots of Quebec, and up to the camp located opposite on the «Trois-Caribous» lake promising a total immersion to live the preserved nature at its best.

Favorite place for rest, reading and soaking up the wilderness. The magnificent view of Lake «Trois-Caribous» is quite enchanting. Go in search of trees more than a century old, canoeing on the limpid lake. Become a coureur des bois by browsing this wild place marked by the calm of the wild nature. Enjoy the unique rustic character of the three-caribou log camp built in 1909. Observe the celestial vault in a unique and completely black setting where the stars are twinkling. A good outdoor campfire is a tradition, think of bringing your marshmallows to grill over the camp fire at night. Also make the call of the wolf in the evening, depending on your degree of practice the pack may answer you off! Wake up to the Jack London that sleeps in you and vibrate to the sound of nature!

Day 1

  • Arrival at the village of Lac-Édouard, for transfer by boat from 4pm to the Seigneurie du Triton,
  • Welcome and explanation of the course of the stay.
  • 5:30pm Transfer by seaplane to the Camp «Trois-Caribous».
  • Visit of the place, explanations about the camp and the territory, by the guide of the Triton to make you completely autonomous in your rustic chalet.
  • Once alone, it’s up to you to decide on your own adventure program.

Day 2 and 3

  • In the day, discovery of the territory via the different trails around the lake that will lead you to discover the forest and other lakes and rivers,
  • Explore the small islands, canoe ride, enjoy swimming in the lake.
  • Reanding, listening to the calm of nature, or also its active moments when singing birds and racing squirrels.
  • In the evening, campfire, call of the wolf, observation of the celestial vault

Day 4

  • Departure from the cabin by seaplane around 10:30am and transfer to the Triton.
  • Lunch at the Shore-lunch where the chef prepares grills over a wood fire, a quiet first step towards a return to civilization by rubbing shoulders with the inn’s clientele.
  • Transfer by boat to your car at 1:30 or 2:30pm.

The «Coureur des bois» package includes :

  • Seaplane transfer from Triton to camp on day 1 and from camp to Triton on day 4 Indication of the guide on arrival at the camp
  • Canoe, paddles and lifejackets
  • Map of the territory
  • Access to a sattelite phone for emergencies to communicate with the triton exclusively, any other call made will be charged (satellite fees are very expensive) and a radio-communication
  • Accommodation for 3 nights in a rustic forest camp with running and hot water,
  • A 5-bed room with a fireplace,
  • Kitchen with dining area with wood stove
  • Bedding and towels
  • The dishes needed for cooking your food, a refrigerator and a stove and an outdoor BBQ,
  • Gas for the motor boat
  • Drinking water, salt and pepper, coffee sugar

To bring in your luggage :

  • Your personal belongings, to limit as much as possible, for lack of space and limited weight in the seaplane
  • A backpack is an ideal format for the transfer (your big luggage and suitcases will be stored in the Triton)
  • Choose light, long clothes to protect against mosquitoes
  • Anti-mosquito bought in Quebec
  • Soap, shampoo, pharmacy, etc.
  • Warm clothes for cool evenings and mornings
  • Clothing to protect yourself from the rain
  • Comfortable shoes for a walk in the forest
  • Jersey, hat, sunscreen
  • The necessary food to prepare your 3 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 3 dinners, snacks,
  • All your beverages other than drinking water

* Mainly in June and early July, the presence of flies and mosquitoes can be important (depending on the outbreaks) since you will be in the heart of the forest, so you must bring, long and light clothing, insecticides bought in Quebec, a protective net if you are rather intolerant to their presence.

For your safety and comfort :

  • It’s your responsibility to wear your life jacket at all times during water activities.
  • Children must wear a life jacket that corresponds to their respective size and weight.
  • It’s your duty to keep children under parental supervision.
  • Swimming is at your own risk.
  • Campfires are permitted in designated areas, except when the fire index is too high.
  • All cameras and electronic devices should be protected in waterproof cases. If you don’t have one, it’s best to leave your devices in your room. If you wish to bring them on a water excursion, you do so at your own risk. La Seigneurie du Triton cannot be held responsible for material damages in case of contact with water.
  • It’s important to wear proper footwear on paths with natural obstacles such as rocks, branches, roots, water holes and mud.
  • During the mosquito season, it’s preferable to wear long, light clothing and use insect repellent, preferably bought in Quebec for better efficiency.
