La seigneurie du triton

The origin of La Seigneurie du Triton dates back to the 1870s, when Quebec and Chicoutimi were first linked by a railroad. Alexander Luders Light, a railroad engineer, was the father of the Triton Fish and Game Club, which he founded in 1893. In doing so, he opened up a territory counting no fewer than 200 lakes.

The early part of the 20th century was the golden age of the Triton Fish and Game Club. In this period, the Club hosted prominent political figures such as US Presidents Theodore Roosevelt and Harry Truman, the former British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, some members of the Rockefeller and Molson families, and many others.

Located in the Haute-Mauricie region near Lac-Édouard, La Seigneurie du Triton is accessible only by boat. No cars, no motorcycles; only silence, serenity and peacefulness.
